Rock Climbing in Peru

La Esfinge / The Sphinx

The Sphinx, or La Esfinge, is an enormous wall of red granite with routes from 600 to 950 metres long, so for a big wall climber this is an absolutely compulsory stop when in the Peruvian Andes.

Hatun Machay

Hatun Machay - “big cave” in Quechua - is a stone forest that extends for 200 hectares at over 4200 m.a.s.l. In the past was a sacred place for the Incas; nowadays it is the most popular spot for foreign climbers and tourists.

Inca Wakanka

Inca Wakanka - “where the inca cries” in Quechua - deserves its name, since at first sight this incredible forest with its rock walls makes any climber want to cry for joy.
